Build a sealed reserve
Start with factory-sealed drinking water and rotate it through normal use.
Add clean carriers
Use robust carriers for short-term transport and utility water; label drinking vs non-drinking.
Add filtration
A known filter is useful redundancy, but it does not make every source safe.
Add treatment backup
Chemical tablets are compact redundancy; follow the label and public-health advice.
Protect the filter
Many hollow-fibre filters can be damaged by freezing after use; follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
Write the plan
Know your water supplier, any Priority Services arrangements, and how your supplier would announce alternative supplies or collection points during an incident.
