01 / LOCALBrowser preferences
The 72-hour checklist, saved KIT loadout, optional household-context settings and optional saved outward postcode use localStorage so selections can remain on that device. The saved-area feature stores only the outward code (for example WD5), never the full postcode, and can be cleared from either postcode-driven page. The household action sheet reads the checklist and household-context settings locally in the browser; it does not submit them to the server. Optional meeting points, contacts, utility notes and medication/device-location notes typed into the action sheet are session-only and are not written to localStorage by the site. Household context is deliberately limited to broad planning flags such as household size, pets, medication, powered-equipment, mobility, young-child and older-person needs; the site asks users not to enter names, diagnoses or prescription details into saved context. As with most websites, the hosting or CDN provider may still create standard access or security logs, such as an IP address, request time and browser details, depending on the hosting configuration.
02 / LIVE DATASame-site endpoints
Small server endpoints retrieve and cache source-attributed headlines, UK operational data and scientific event data used by Live Signals and the Global Situation map.
03 / LOCAL BRIEFPostcode lookup on request
The home-page local brief only runs when you submit a postcode or explicitly recheck a previously saved outward code. A full postcode is sent to the Get Prepped Now server in the request body, then used server-side with Postcodes.io to resolve an approximate area; it is not stored by Get Prepped Now. If you choose saved-area convenience, only the outward code is stored locally. A saved-area recheck uses Postcodes.io outward-code data and therefore has a broader centre point than an exact-postcode check. For England, the resolved coordinates are used server-side to query the Environment Agency for current flood alerts within roughly 20 km. On an exact-postcode check in England, Wales or Northern Ireland, the resolved coordinates may also be sent server-to-server to data.police.uk to identify the neighbourhood policing team; the postcode itself is not sent to data.police.uk by GPN. Scotland uses the official Police Scotland community-team route instead. Neighbourhood Watch scheme/member details are not scraped into GPN: the result links to the appropriate official scheme finder or local PCSP, which receives information only when you choose to open and use it. The response sent back to your browser does not include precise coordinates. Optional household context and checklist progress are combined with the result in your browser and are not sent with the postcode request. Hosting providers may still keep normal technical request logs under their own retention settings.
04 / OBSERVABILITYSource health, not visitor analytics
The live-data server records hourly aggregates about the external sources it contacts: how many checks succeeded or failed and how long those upstream requests took. It also keeps only the latest source-level check result (time, success/failure, latency, HTTP status when available and a coarse failure class such as timeout or DNS/connect failure) so the status page can distinguish current state from 24-hour history. This source-health data does not contain IP addresses, postcodes, cookies, user agents, page-view histories or request bodies. It exists so a failed source can be distinguished from a genuine no-warning or no-item result.
05 / EXTERNALOptional services
Amazon links take you to Amazon, where Amazon's own privacy and cookie terms apply. TradingView market data is not loaded unless you explicitly enable it. If household-context settings are saved on the device, the site disables the optional TradingView widget so third-party script is not loaded alongside that local context.
06 / SUPPORT FINDERLocal support lookup
The Local Support Finder runs only when you submit a postcode or explicitly recheck a saved outward code. A full postcode is sent to the Get Prepped Now server and resolved through Postcodes.io to identify the UK nation, region and local-authority area, but the full postcode is not stored by Get Prepped Now. If you opt in, only the outward code is stored in this browser. Outward codes can span more than one council area, so saved-area results are labelled as broader routing and should be confirmed against the exact council when required. The response does not include coordinates. Get Prepped Now does not automatically send your postcode or outward code to food banks, charities, councils or other external services; those organisations receive information only when you choose to open and use their websites.
